Stained Glass

4 10 2007

When did the church stop being a place for the broken, needy, hurting people? When did we become so self righteous and judgmental? Why do we hide behind masks of perfection while inside we crumble and break? Why has the name of Jesus just become another name, why doesn’t it bring healing anymore? Why are Christians so hypactitical? Why are thousands of my peers, my friends, my brothers and sisters suffering with shameful addictions and sorrows and the church is not reaching out to us and teaching us how to deal with pain because our parents aren’t. Why is the church not taking us under their wings?

America, Believers, those who claim to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ….. WAKE UP! Your loosing our generation.

I’m not saying that some of you aren’t trying. I see the efferts of countless woman and men of God to save us. I see woman and men becoming open-revealing to us (my generation) the imperfection lying benieth and we need that-but we need more of it. I’m tired of being looked down on because I am young, I’m tired of perfect adults telling me what to do with my life when they don’t take time to know me first. I walk down the rows of my church and I see thousands of smiling faces and I know that not everyone is as happy as they pretend to be. Why do we as Christians feel the need to pretend that we are perfect?  Adults, mothers and fathers in Christ: we need you. My generation needs adults in our life. We need someone. We’re searching for someone to help us…will you?

Fellow peers: We have to stop this trend. No longer can we continue being fake. It’s so easy to sit in our cyberspace worlds and pretend like everythings okay: I’m so guilty of this, but now is a time for a change. Before it kills us. It’s claimed too many lives.

Sitting here behind this screen,

You’re  safe, no imperfections are seen.

A message appears asking how you are,

I warp your emotions-the good to bar.

And once again I make you move to pretend.

My name is cyber,

I attack like a tiger.

With claws of lies,

You’ve met your demise.

I sink my teeth into your flesh,

Finding out where your hurt is at best.

I’ve destroyed you and laid you to rest.

Please…if you hear anything today, hear my plea.

Wow…very heart-felt post. And what a great poem. It’s so relevant to our modern world.

What you observe about the church today is sadly true in many cases. I see it my own church. I’ve seen it in myself at times.

But…I do hear you and I pray there are parents and adults around you that hear you, too. Keep crying out. Don’t let them off the hook. Always remember that there is One who hears your pleas. He is the One that will never forsake you when it seems that all others have.

Keep challenging your peers, too. Someday you all will be the parents, adults and leaders of the church.

I hope you don’t mind, but I’m going to share this on my blog and with folks at my church. These are words that need to be heard.

Blessings,
David.

I understand what you’re feeling. Change always starts with ourselves first. And you seem to be doing your part. Keep it up! But remember – man will always fail us – do not depend on what you think others should do – or even your peers. Follow the Lords lead and stand solid on His direction for your life…which I’m sure you are. I love your passion, I hear your cry! YOU are exactly what this generation needs!

Yes, we will.
Thank you for crying out, for being real and honest about what you see and feel. My other comment sums up my heart for your posts…

Blessings to you, as you take a stand for change. It is desperately needed. But guard your heart, and let it’s motivation always be that of love. I know this has not been the example set before you, but it the way of Jesus. Once we return to and grasp this love, we will see healing begin anew, and deliverance from bondage and addiction. It is the greatest power in Creation for it is the very essence of God, and will render the enemy powerless when wielded against him in the Spirit of Jesus Christ.

We are in a battle for the hearts and souls of humanity against an ancient and powerful foe. Behind the smiling faces are many people who would welcome the chance to be honest and real, if only they felt safe enough to be so.

The grace and strength of the Lord to you as you pave the way!

Greetings. Without a doubt, we need to be atuned to the needs of those around us. I fear that far too often we get into a comfortable rut and want to stay in that comfortable rut. Or we become so busy “running to and fro” that we fail to see the needs of a generation that’s in desperate need of godly council. (All of us are in need of godly council) I found your site through Davids. (Grits n Grace) Thanks for sounding a wake up call concern ing this.

Have a blessed day in Christ.
